- For those worried that Angelina Jolie has developed something of a superiority complex since the days when she wore Billy Bob Thorton’s blood around her neck while copulating with him in a vehicle on the red carpet, don’t worry! It looks like the long rumored Cleopatra project, which would see Jolie as the Egyptian queen, is falling apart after director David Fincher departed. Said Jolie while walking underneath a ladder in front of a black cat holding an open umbrella indoors, “I’m sure it will work out, as projects associated with Cleopatra always do.”
- Eli Roth, who we can thank for the brief rise of the blissfully now dormant “torture porn” horror movement, is ready to try his hand at directing again. This time, he’s going to go for something a little more goofy than gross, or maybe equally goofy and gross. Thanksgiving was a fake trailer included in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse, but Roth intends on making it a full feature. He announced that he and other writers finally “broke the story idea.” I have never doubted Roth’s ability to break cinema, but I admire his candor in revealing it’s the first step in his process.
- It wasn’t with baited breath that I was waiting for writer/director Amy Heckerling’s reunion with Alicia Silverstone, but my mouth definitely smelled of chum. Vamps, filmed a “gosh I’m old” 17 years after the duo made Clueless, will reportedly barely hit the big screen and mostly debut on Blu-ray and video-on-demand. While that’s kind of a bummer in that it indicates a weak product, at least I’m less likely to be judged for seeing it.
- In a potential case of sexism in Hollywood, a first for the town, Kristen Stewart has reportedly been booted out of the impending Snow White and the Huntsman sequel due to her affair with director Rupert Sanders…while Sanders would reportedly stay on. So you’d have no Snow White, but you would keep the married director who turned a position of power into a roll in the hay with an actress almost two decades his junior. You stay classy, Tinseltown.
