Austin's Sons of Fathers were the first taste of non-local music on this year's Maha Festival stage. They brought together a sound that lies smack dab between modern folk-rock stars Mumford & Sons and shaggy Americana rockers the Black Crowes. Stand-up bass met with electric guitars to make brisk-moving, upbeat roots rock. Obviously this is soaked in commercial potential, as long as alternative rock stays fine with tasteful bits of folk and twang. Now it's time to eat, while local boys Rock Paper Dynamite strut through a set of classic rock-meets-garage riffage.
