Backbeat - Rock, Women, and Reverb…Oh My!

Lindsay Kupser on Worlds of Wayne

A few months back I had a chance to interview a touring singer/songwriter who was passing through Omaha on tour. Lindsay Kupser is a Canadian-born singer/songwriter who got to experience our Benson scene while here and we play a few tracks off her album. In the interview, Lindsay talks about her music, the beauty of the home-show, and performs live on the podcast.

Little Brazil Downtown

On August 27th at noon downtown on the corner of 13th and Howard, Hear Nebraska presents another Hear Omaha concert. This one will be a make up for the rain out that kept local rockers Little Brazil from playing. You can take a break from work and check out one an iconic Omaha band out in this amazing fall-like weather. Grab lunch from the food truck and get a sonic side dish al fresco in the Old Market.

A Celebration for Allan

Friday August 27th, The Reverb Lounge, Tickets: $10 http://www.etix.com/ticket/p/8774030

Recently Omaha lost a fantastic musician and I lost a good friend. Allan Mansfield left us after his battle with cancer and passed while in the comfort of friends and family. Come celebrate the bigger than life spirit that was our friend Allan at the Reverb. From the facebook event page:

“On this night we celebrate the life of Alan Mansfield, a friend and participant in Omaha's music community for many decades. Alan left us on July 30th, 2015. Alan was best known in the music community as the guitarist for Omaha rock band Witness Tree. Alan was also known as a loving family man, a great friend to many and a huge supporter of other musicians in our area. Alan would want this to be a celebration, and so we have lined up some of his personal favorite bands along with a project that he was involved with before his passing (Mother Molly & the May I's) along with Alan's son Ian's project Fight Within the Master Sleep.”

with RAF, Bullet Proof Hearts, Matt Whipkey, Mother Molly & The May I's, A Fight Within the Mastersleep and Lift Ticket

Proceeds from this night will go to the Mansfield family.

In Memorandum

Recently local guitarist and owner of Jerry’s Rob Rutar lost his mother to a battle with cancer. We here at the Reader and Backbeat offer our sincerest condolences and support for Rob’s family. Rob is a local hero of Benson and a huge supporter of the music scene and local businesses. Wherever you are listening to music or taking the stage, raise a glass to a fantastic woman who raised a pretty great kid that all of Benson adores. Here’s to you Mrs. Rutar.
