The last brew was in March or Märzen, it was kept as cool as possible all summer, and then in the fall everyone celebrated by breaking out the Märzen beer. This annual party became known as Oktoberfest, and nobody does it better than the beer experts at Beer Corner, U.S.A., where the flagship joint was the Crescent Moon. First on the lineup is a newcomer to the Huber-Haus’s Oktoberfest, Hacker Pshorr beer, which comes directly from Munich, ground zero for Oktoberfest. Huber also has a limited supply of Weihenstephaner weiss bier and festbier. This is special because Weihenstephaner is the oldest brewery in the world. All the other Oktoberfest regulars will be present, too, including Spaten, Paulaner and Warsteiner, a few of which are still brewed according to Reinheitsgebot, the German beer purity law. Because no beer is complete with a special chalice, glassware will be on sale, and the Barry Boyce Band will do its special cover of “Crazy Train,” along with some polka.
