May 28 Omaha Heritage Festival Lewis & Clark Landing, Omaha's downtown riverfront 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Free 402.933.4466 The American mosaic is celebrated when groups representing more than 30 ethnic cultures let their freak flags fly on Saturday. This first annual heritage festival is meant as a paean to each distinct culture and to the nation's melting pot conglomeration. Aptly, the activities represent a mishmash of this and that, including a parade with floats, decorated motor vehicles, musical groups, dancers and uniformed honor guards. Live bands of all kinds will take the stage. A carnival with rides and games will entrance the kiddies. Vendors will ply far-flung wares, traditional foods and global refreshments. A harmonious community of cultures is the theme of this festival cum social networking event. It's free to boot.
