The Dunwells w/ the Blank Tapes

This show presents an interesting pair of two up-and-coming indie rock acts. Show headliner the Dunwells are a British folk rock band that sits somewhere between Mumford & Sons and Kings of Leon. When they lean towards electric rock arrangements, they're burgeoning alternative radio success seems a given. The Blank Tapes is the brainchild of Southern California songwriter Matt Adams, who traces his sonic lineage back to falling in love with the Kinks as a teenager. It comes through in his songs, but there's also signs that he's marinated in the current home recording revival, spearheaded by guys like Kelley Stoltz and Sonny Smith. He's released material on Burger Records and toured with Thee Oh Sees. The Blank Tapes specialize in no-frills retro pop-rock done with a low-key subtlety.
