Mike Jaworski has called Seattle home for the last 14 years, but his roots reach back all the way to Omaha. His long-running indie-punk act The Cops made Omaha a regular tour stop and his Mt. Fuji Records imprint put out three releases by local rockers Little Brazil. Now Jaworski is heading up Virgin Islands, ripping through a meaner, leaner vibe on his melodic punk-rock sound. The Nebraska roots remain, as the band's 2011 album Ernie Chambers V. God plays off of former state Senator Ernie Chambers' 2007 lawsuit against God. Beyond the title track, pummelling drums meet up with cutting guitar riffs and dance-punk basslines.
