From Nov. 2020 - Aug. 2022, Leah reported on social justice, including employment equity, economic justice, educational inequality, and the experiences and history of Nebraska's LGBTQ+ community. She originally came to The Reader for a stint as a Reporting Intern but loved the newsroom so much she stuck around as a Reporter and Editorial & Membership Associate, during which time her responsibilities included writing the monthly Omaha Jobs column, creating the daily Reed Moore newsletter, developing social media strategy and spearheading all things membership program.
In Aug. 2022, Leah moved to the east coast to pursue a PhD in Communication, Information and Media at Rutgers University. She remains a diehard Reader fan and wholeheartedly supports all things Reader from her studio apartment in New Jersey.
*Leah's work inbox has floated into the ether since she no longer works at The Reader, so emails sent to leah@pioneermedia.me are rerouted to Arjav Rawal, the new Editorial & Membership Associate. He can forward the message to Leah. Or you can reach out to Leah via Twitter (@cates_leah).
