Bill Hoover, artist and director of Hoover Studios, began showcasing the art of new and emerging Metro area artists last summer. The Hoover Studios March 15, Friday Presentation features new work by Omaha artist Sarah Rowe. Rowe’s visionary images, inspired by dreams, use symbols combined with bold geometric shapes. Lakota calendar winter count pictographics, and the distinctive palettes of Egon Schiele and Aubrey Beardsley are among her influences. Rowe is a co-founder and co-owner of Benson’s Sweatshop Gallery, another Omaha venue showcasing new and emerging artists. “It has been wonderful coming together with other artists,” Rowe said. “Connecting with people no matter what their passions are is a way to collaborate. Ideas feed each other and just get more interesting. Omaha’s a great place to be right now.” Sarah Rowe’s exhibition at Hoover Studios closes April 3, 2013. The exhibition is free to the public.
