This year’s theme is “Place-Based Identity,” a creative-nonfiction workshop that’s focused on connections between self and place, led by Angela L. Glover. Participants will get a full 14 hours of instruction and writing classes as well as three-hour workshops. General registration for the workshop is $50; food and lodging’s up to you. In it, Dr. Marchese details the environmental links to women’s health conditions and provides a roadmap on how to remove built up stores of toxins from the body as well as recommendations for healthy alternatives to cosmetics, cleaning, and personal care products. The event starts at 1 p.m. * The Omaha Public Library’s Summer Reading event has all sorts of great ideas for children of all ages this summer. The activities, which vary by branch, give participants the opportunity to experience other cultures through games, meals, music and other activities.
