The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts celebrates its 35th anniversary this Thursday, Feb. 4, with a special exhibition in recognition of its mission to provide direct support to artists through its internationally regarded residency programs.

Time + Space: Beginnings, “a yearlong rotating exhibition”, highlights in its first installment, works by past and recent Bemis residents inspired by earth as both material and subject matter, which is appropriate given the center’s inaugural artists-in-industry programs, as well as its historic support of artists working in clay and ceramic sculpture.

Exhibiting artists include Linda Casbon, Rob Crosse, Angela Drakeford, Tony Hepburn, Lauren Kalman, Liliya Lifanova, and Rodrigo Valenzuela.

Time + Space: Beginnings, Feb 4 through May 14, 2016. Opening reception Thursday, Feb 4, 6-9pm at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, 724 S 12th Street, www.bemiscenter.org.
