Help Raise a Barn

Darby Springs Farm in Ceresco, NE is trying to raise funds to raise a barn using Barnraiser. Cute, right? Join other backers in pulling together the money needed to help this family-owned farm build a creamery barn. It’s a win-win because not only does Darby Springs Farm get their barn, but the rest of us also get to enjoy farmstead ice cream.

Rejoice, Fast Food Fanatics

Yet another Chic-Fil-A has joined the ranks among the Omaha metro area’s fast food restaurants. The new eatery located at Legacy Village opened October 16, and while this may not sound like earth-shattering news, you should ask the hundred people who lined up and camped overnight the night before opening in order to claim free Chic-Fil-A for a year. They obviously think it’s a pretty big deal.

Vote for the Best

The James Beard Foundation Awards are prestigious annual awards given to the best chefs in the country. Nominations are taken from the public, so if you have a favorite chef you’d like to nominate, now is your chance. Local chefs that have been nominated and made it to semi-finalist status include The Grey Plume’s Clayton Chapman and Paul Kulik from The Boiler Room.

Candy Alternative

Maybe you want to take your kids trick-or-treating on Halloween night, or maybe you want to dress up in costume and prepare to defend yourself as an adult who still tries to get free stuff while trick-or-treating. Either way, if you’re looking for something a little healthier to fill up your candy bucket, plan on attending the 1st Annual  Healthiest Trick & Treat at Natural Grocers on Wright Street. You’ll still get treats, but you might not wind up with a stomach ache afterward.
