Dandelion at Flatiron

Nick Bartholomew’s obsession with repurposing, pop-ups, and historic preservation is getting out of hand, and we love to see it. The serial entrepreneur has sunk his teeth into a new repurposing project, bringing Sunday brunch pop-ups to the Covid-closed Flatiron at 1722 St Mary’s Ave. His agreement with building owners allows him access to the existing space and remaining equipment for dinners, brunches, and events. His aim is to draw talent and traffic to the spot, in the hopes that one of the talented chefs he hosts will take up residence in the historic space. Brunch kicks off this weekend with a Latin menu by Chef Andrew Novak.

Omaha Chef Wins Master Chef Apron

After grueling interviews and auditions, local radio host and home chef Tay Westberry has won an apron and a chance to compete in this season’s Master Chef: Legends. In an episode aired last week, Paula Deen narrowed down the remaining contestants, and Westberry won his apron with three of four possible votes. His joyful persona was the main course to the buttermilk biscuit apple pie with vanilla bean whipped topping dessert he presented the judges with. It’s unclear which they found more palatable. Tune in to Fox this Wednesday at 7pm to see what else Westberry is cooking up.

An OFL and Inner Rail Production

“Omaha Food Lovers and Inner Rail Food Hall have put together an impressive line-up of local vendors with the goal of helping the community get back on their feet after such a tough year and a half. On Saturday, June 26th from 11AM-7PM throughout 67th Street, we’ll have so many great bites & beverages, a mini farmers’ market, live music, art, and kids entertainment. Community leaders, local chefs, and restaurateurs will hold forums throughout the day to discuss the revitalization of the hospitality industry in Omaha. Each $30 ticket will provide you with tokens that are good for FOUR signature drinks or dishes of your choice from any participating restaurant or bar, and for every ticket sold, $1 is donated to the local Omaha Food Banks.”

You can buy your tickets Here, but act fast! You won’t want to miss this event on Saturday, June 26th.
