Jimmy John’s has a loyal fan base but Firehouse Subs looks to heat up competition with their first Metro area franchise later this year. Okay, great – another sandwich maker. So what makes them unique? Well, the chain is famous for piping hot subs with premium meats and cheeses piled high atop toasted sub rolls. Renowned for hearty, oversized portions, the companies comes equipped with a new beverage toy. Coca-Cola Freestyle, a new sleek, stylish fountain, that is touch-screen operated, enabling consumers to select from more than 100 regular and low-calorie beverage brands in the same footprint as a standard eight-valve machine.  Many varieties of waters, fruit-flavored and sparkling beverages are available. The first location will be in Council Bluffs and an Omaha location is to open in the first quarter of 2012. Firehouse Subs currently has 441 stores nationwide.
