- How? We live in a world in which Scary Movie gets a sequel like every five minutes, but nobody has made The Rundown 2 yet. If you missed it, thanks for being part of the problem, but let me tell you what you missed. (Provigil) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a hired goon trying to retrieve Seann William Scott from the jungle while Christopher Walken goes bonkers. It’s great. And there should have been like 10 of these movies, seeing as how there aren’t nearly enough adventure franchises and we have to keep The Rock busy or he’ll eat someone. Director Peter Berg has finally begun rumbling about The Rundown 2, so I need you all to help pick up momentum for this by using your Twitter thingies and Facebook whatsits to generate something called “buzz.” Don’t ruin this for me.
- So the Golden Globe nominations and the Screen Actors Guild nominations came out. Guess what? Very few surprises. But for once, that’s a good thing. 12 Years a Slave is looking every bit the early front runner, which it should be, with nods from both groups in the categories of Best Picture, Best Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Best Supporting Actor (Michael Fassbender) and Best Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong’o). I’m just saying, if 12 Years a Slave doesn’t win Best Picture, that leaves Crash as the last film on racial issues to win an Oscar…and it had friggin’ Ludacris in it.
- I’m not the world’s biggest Monty Python fan, but even I was curious about Absolutely Anything. The live-action/CGI hybrid film was set to star the voices of 4 of the 5 living Python members (John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Terry Jones), who play aliens that give power to a teacher. That teacher was just announced to be Simon Pegg. I…I…I want to go to there so bad. Fans of British comedy, prepare to chortle in your biscuits!
