St. Patrick’s Day is a special holiday in Omaha. It’s a day when folks of all backgrounds participate in cross-cultural engagement – namely, the luck of the Irish.

With COVID-19 raging for a year now, it’s no surprise that the green holiday festivities are in somewhat short supply. However, there is still some fun to be had if you know where to look. And lucky for you, dear reader, this list is a great place to start.

DAV South Omaha’s first annual Wear’n of the Green party will take place this year, and it will be a roaring good time. Open to the public and free, you can’t go wrong by having fun and supporting an honorable establishment at the same time.

There will be drink specials and raffles to celebrate – not to mention the malarkey that will naturally ensue among such fine people. Additionally, there will be corned beef and cabbage at noon while supplies last, so come early and hungry.

Ultimately, if you’re in the mood to support an establishment that does everything in its power to support veterans, this is where you need to be. Because not only is it dutiful, but it’s also going to be an exciting time.

If you do not feel well, please do not attend. But if you feel up to it, come and enjoy the festivities!

Western saloons and St. Patrick’s Day go together like rainbows and pots of gold!

Bushwackers’ St. Patty’s Day Celebration

Everybody’s favorite western-themed bar and saloon is proclaiming that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. To celebrate, Bushwacker’s is throwing a shindig of epic proportions, featuring your favorite Irish beer or otherwise.

Not only will there be amazing drinks served by top-notch bartenders, but there will also be live music and food. In other words, it’s going to be the best time, the quality you would expect from this establishment by now.

Moreover, there will be line dancing between sets to keep the fun going. If you’re usually no good at that sort of thing, now may be your chance to try the luck of the Irish!

Given that it’s been a year of COVID-19, Bushwacker’s is very excited to get down on some St. Patty’s Day fun. But if you don’t feel well, please keep the party at home.

Shamrock Shuffle (Council Bluffs)

Since 2012, the Shamrock Shuffle has offered folks an exhilarating 5k run to start their St. Patty’s Day. The race starts and ends in the historic 100 Block section of downtown Council Bluffs and operates along a now nationally certified route.

Runners are encouraged to wear green. After the race, there will be an epic assortment of outdoor beer gardens, local outdoor food, and live music. There is also a virtual run option this year.

Note there will be a limited number of “day-of” sign-ups, so make sure to sign up online beforehand. Plus, there are certain guidelines regarding COVID-19 you should know about before race day, approved by the City of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Health Department, and Precision Race Results. That said, if you do not feel well, please do not participate in the run.

2021 Testify Leprechaun Lift-off Weightlifting Meet

Omaha’s very own Testify Strength & Conditioning is hosting their annual Leprechaun Lift-off Weightlifting Meet this year. For all the muscle heads looking to show their stuff, prepare to testify!

There will be divisions for both men and women, in the areas of Masters, Senior, Junior, and Youth divisions. Additionally, weight classes and age divisions for each of the 3 (possibly 4) sessions will be announced via email after registration is complete.
Late registration runs until March 6, but only those who register by Feb. 20 (the regular registration deadline) will receive a sweet Leprechaun Lift-off shirt. Note there are distinct fees for each registration period (register online).

Current USAW/IWF apply, bring your card and ID, and no USAW apps will be accepted on the day of the event. There is no charge for spectators, the referees are sharp, and singlets are not required.

Omaha St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl

Just because it’s been a crazy year, it doesn’t mean that all the fun is canceled. Join in on the Irish fun by participating in Omaha’s St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl, still scheduled to occur.

Your ticket includes general admission, a map for you to navigate the crawl, and drink specials. But you can only reap the benefits of specials by wearing your wristband during the crawl, so don’t forget!

You must pick up your wristband and map on the day of the crawl at a location to be announced on Friday the 12th. Note if you do not feel well, please do not come to the crawl.

If you want to celebrate your St. Patrick’s Day on the green this year, come out to Lake Ridge Golf Course. Not only do you can do some fine festive golfing, but you can also party most elegantly.

The pristine Caddies Lounge is where the celebratory fun will be going down, the perfect place for relaxing post-game. Put on some green and you’ll fit right in!
Moreover, there will be tons of quality food and drink specials in the lounge to make this a night worth remembering. And to top it all off, it will be a night of karaoke!
If you’re feeling up to it this year, partying on a golf course could be the best decision you make. Not only will it give you the chance to practice your game, but it will also be one of the best sources of nightlife in the city.

If you’re in the mood for some high voltage rock music this St. Patrick’s Day, you must make it to American Dream Hangout. One of the most chill live music venues in the city, you can be sure there will be memories made here.

The expert rock and roll cover band Rock Sinatra will be headlining, and they will be kicking out jams that are at once danceable and headbanging. Their special guest will be Pauzed, a three-piece metal outfit started back in the day, whose return to the stage is highly anticipated.

It’s highly recommended that you wear green and prepare yourself for drink specials all night. Moreover, there is no cover charge at the door, and reserved tables are available for those who wish to stay classy whilst celebrating.

Lincoln’s own Jolly Beans Magic Castle – the premiere place in Lincoln to score some magic tricks and jokes – is holding their annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration. This is going to be some great entertainment for the kids, so if you’ve got some young ones, bring them down to Lincoln the Sunday before the holiday.

There will be magic shows from noon to 3 PM to amaze your inner child. Moreover, there will be Sparky the bounce dragon, loads of cotton candy and popcorn, and plenty of games with prizes to win.
