* The Dead Milkmen’s Joe Jack Talcum will play a set at Brothers Lounge, 3812 Farnam St., Thursday, October 21st at 10 p.m. The Philadelphia-based Dead Milkmen made their mark in the late 80s and early 90s, with more than a halff-dozen albums featuring their satirical punk rock sound. Talcum will be joined by Sam Locke-Ward & the Boo Hoos and Well Aimed Arrows.This show is sure to be packed, especially with a $5 cover.

* The Low Forms, the new project of Duluth, Minn. musician Steve Biasi (Falcon Crest, Total F**king Blood), will play O’Leaver’s Pub, 1322 South Saddle Creek Road, Thursday, October 21st at 10 p.m. The Low Forms play a Husker Du/Wipers-influenced style of punk rock. Peace of Shit opens.

* The Omaha Entertainment & Arts Awards announced their music nominees for the 2011 awards in 16 different categories, including Album and Artist of the Year. Each category included a nominee selected by a vote of the general public, in addition to artists picked by members of the OEA academy. While details on an awards ceremony have yet to be finalized, winners will be finalized by February.

* HoneyHoney, the Los Angeles-based duo of Ben Jaffe and Suzanne Santo, have added an in-store performance at Homer’s Music, 1210 Howard St., Monday, October 31st at 6 p.m. The band is due to release their Lost Highway debut, Billy Jack, a week prior to their Halloween night stop in Omaha. Later that evening, the alt.country/folk pop act will join Lincoln native Joshua James at the Waiting Room Lounge, 6212 Maple St.

* Steve Lawrence’s Papa Steve’s Blues band and The Reader‘s own stargazer MojoPo are taking over Bud Olson’s Bar, 3207 Leavenworth, for a night of music Saturday, October 22nd at 8 p.m. Lawrence is also completing a new video to accompany his latest studio album, which is due out later this fall.

* Dan Tedesco, a Chicago-based singer-songwriter, will join Snake Island! and Bradley Unit at the Barley Street Tavern, 2735 North 62nd St. at 9 p.m. Tedesco is touring behind his 2011 album, Tracks on Fire.
