Doug Deming & The Jewel Tones with Dennis Gruenling take the Zoo Bar stage Monday, Aug. 19, 6 p.m. This band knocked out Omaha blues fans last summer when they played at the P.S. Collective. Deming has appeared at the Zoo Bar before as part of Kim Wilson’s Blues Revue. Deming’s guitar style mixes sparkling precision and passion in the tradition of Duke Robillard, T-Bone Walker and Charlie Christian. He can also lay down solid, straight-up, traditional blues. Dennis Gruenling on harmonica brings old-school harp licks to the stage influenced by Little Walter, George “Harmonica” Smith and vintage R&B saxophone greats. These musicians have two CDs out showcasing their talents, What’s it Gonna Take and Rockin’ All Day. Both VizzTone label discs have spent three months on the Living Blues Radio Charts’ Top 10.
