Kevin Devine & the Goddamn Band

Kevin Devine & the Goddamn Band w/Dads and Field Mouse

Kevin Devine may be one of the finest purveyors of a brand of melodic, punchy rock songs that seemingly has spun off by the thousands in the wake of Weezer’s Pinkerton. Kevin Devine has always features his two identities on his records. One of those identities is an acoustic guitar strumming, heart-on-sleeve sensitive type. The other one vents his spleen over fuzzy, hook-laden rock guitars. Both sides have a way of burying a song in the deep recesses of your mind. His last two records, 2013’s tandem of Bubblegum & Bulldozer, present the two sides on separate albums. Both are some of Devine’s best work. The openers, female-fronted Field Mouse and noisy emo act Dads, shares some similar melodic indie punk DNA with Devine too.
