It was a very busy weekend May 11th through May 13th as Backstage Entertainment covered two different radio festivals in Iowa. River Riot in Pacific Junction was on Friday, May 11th and then LAZERfest in Boone was on Sunday, May 13th. Like River Riot, LAZERfest was at a different venue then last year. This year they went to Boone, IA, to the Central Iowa Expo. It turned out to be a great day, weather wise and performance wise.

Backstage Entertainment came into the day with six scheduled interviews out of the thirteen bands performing and ended up getting nine. We were so busy backstage with interviews and gathering out autographs for contests for The Reader and Backstage Entertainment pages that we didn’t get to see much of the show. You could definitely hear the performances and fans enjoying the festival from the back and all the bands we talked to said the crowd was big and very energetic.

The lineup of the day, in order of performance time, was: Dead Horse Trauma, Art of Dying, Black Stone Cherry, Adelitas Way, P.O.D., Sebastian Bach, Volbeat, Buckcherry, Theory of a Deadman, Chevelle, Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Five Finger Death Punch, and Shinedown. With two different stages, it was great with that many bands that fans didn’t have to wait in between performances too long. Bands alternated stages which allowed for setup time on the opposite stage then the current performance.

Overall it was a great day and night, the new venue seemed to work great for the show, and it seemed everyone had a great time. Below are links to our interviews, backstage footage, and photos from the festival.
