As Mayor Jim Suttle awaits his day in court to fight the recall effort, a new organization emerged on Dec. 15 to help support the effort to remove him from office. Three local businessmen are listed on the Citizens for Omaha’s Future initial filing. Dave Nabity — a businessman who has been critical of Suttle’s police and fire contracts through his group Omaha Alliance for the Private Sector — says he is also involved with the new recall effort. Mayor Suttle Recall Committee treasurer John Chatelain says Nabity raised more than $200,000 for the committee, but there was some disagreement between the group and Nabity over how the recall effort was managed. Suttle is scheduled to present his case claiming fraud in the petition process at a Dec. 20 hearing in Douglas County District Court.
