They Always Pop Back Up
I have always thought that being more resilient than other beautiful things is the sole reason a dandelion is considered a weed and a pest. This resilience is evident in the regrowth of The Omaha Chamber Courtyard’s pop-up stand. After a brief hiatus to remodel and upgrade, Dandelion is back and ready to bring you a taste of the future. The pop-up stand returns this Friday, and will feature a sampling of founder Nick Bartholomew’s Over Easy menu. The Great Food Makeover- A No Food Waste Fest
With one in 5 children going to bed hungry every night in the Greater Omaha area, Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue wants to shine a light on food waste. The Great Food Makeover on Saturday October 8 will celebrate and explore solutions to food waste, and will feature local chefs creating dishes out of rescued food. These are vegetables that were deemed “too unattractive” to sell, and in spite of being perfectly edible, delicious, and nutritious, were bound for trashcans or being ploughed back into the field. Strengthening the Circle
The 25th annual Fort Omaha Intertribal Powwow will take place this Saturday from 1 to 7:30 pm at the Metropolitan Community College’s Fort Omaha Campus. This year’s theme is “Strengthening the Circle”. The free event will feature food vendors, intertribal dance, a study circle, princess contest, raffles, and more.
