Sept. 30 El Ten Eleven w/ Dosh and Baths Slowdown, 729 N. 14th St. 9 p.m., $8, theslowdown.com While El Ten Eleven consists of just two people, the CA-based band manages to sound like a thorough four-piece much of the time. The sound is full and atmospheric, with an inventive and engaging drummer and his cohort manning a double-necked bass/guitar. They do this without laptops or sequencers, instead relying on effect pedals and loops controlled with their feet. This band will appeal to fans of Tortoise and Sigur Ros. El Ten Eleven’s most recent record, It’s Still Like A Secret, finds the band charging a bit harder than on some previous albums, trading space and nuanced edges for memorable melodies and a well thought out urgency.
