In our third and final Omaha Fashion Week designer preview, we sat down with local designer Jane Round to get the exclusive details on her latest collection.

Tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind your fall/winter 2012 collection.

For this latest collection I’m presenting nine looks and drew inspiration from the deep sea. I used shapes, textiles, colors and embellishments to show that I was inspired by fish—their bodies are solid but they can also be fluid and translucent. I created a lot of texture and balanced it with smooth surfaces.

How does this collection differ from your previous collections?

This collection features more separates such as jackets and pants and fewer dresses. I also returned to some of the intricate hand embellishment techniques that I utilized in the past but hadn’t used in my last few collections. (https://www.smallhandsbigart.com/)

What kind of beauty look can we expect to see on your models this year?

I’m working with the Sirens at the Loft team again this year; I’ve been working with them for a few years now and they always translate my ideas perfectly. You can expect to see youthful, ‘50s and ‘60s inspired hair and makeup with my collection.

Which designers are you most excited to see this year?

Emma Erickson and Megan Hunt, of course. I go to school with Kate Walz, so I’m also excited to see what she’s been working on. Most of all, I’m excited to see all the new designers presenting their collections this year.
