May 7 Free Comic Book Day Krypton Comics, 2819 S. 125th Ave. 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Free, freecomicbookday.com Let your inner little dude or dudette — the one that read comics and played with toys all day and all night — come out and play once again Saturday for Free Comic Book Day at Krypton Comics. Special guests include Helen Slater, who portrayed “Supergirl” in the 1984 movie, and Cynthia Martin, an Omaha native and comic book illustrator whose work has appeared in “Star Wars,” “Spiderman” and “Wonder Woman” comics. Also on hand will be the awesome 501st Legion of Star Wars Stormtroopers, a local outfit that will appear in full stormtrooper gear to pose for photographs. Promoting the event as “using the comic book art form as a gateway to literacy,” free comic books will be available to attendees as part of Krypton’s commitment to encourage reading and learning.
