Jan. 30 Help and Hope for Haiti Signing The Bookworm, 8702 Pacific St. 1-3 p.m., 392.2877, bookwormomaha.com It has been about a year since the tragic earthquake hit Haiti, and even though the news has wandered onto more recent events, those impacted last January still have a story to share. Haitian-born physician and UNMC Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Rubens J. Pamies will present a discussion on his new book Help and Hope for Haiti , which documents the firsthand accounts of several groups of volunteers from Omaha. The illustrated book paints an eyewitness view of the challenges faced by those trying to deliver urgent medical care to the people of Haiti. Dr. Pamies, along with several staff from UNMC, will talk about their experiences in Haiti, as well as sign copies of the book. Proceeds will benefit the Haitian Relief Fund.
