In anticipation of the 10th annual Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards ceremony on January 17 is an exhibition devoted to the work of this year’s nominees for awards in its Visual Arts categories. This show has a short run—open Jan. 8 through 16, with a public preview this Friday from 5-8:00 pm. Note that entrance to this special exhibit is only at S. 12th and Jones Street through Kaneko UNO Library.

Each year, the OEAA recognizes creative visual artists in nine different categories: Best Public Art; Best Solo, Two-Person and Group Exhibition; Best 2D, 3D, New Media and Emerging Artist; and Visual Artist of the year. Artists must have shown their work locally and furthered their careers during the period between September 2014 and August of this year.

The exhibition will feature works drawn from among this year’s nominees. Thanks in great measure to the 37 artists included in Joslyn’s nominated Art Seen exhibition, the list of participating artists is too long to list, but here are some highlights: Cedric Hartman, Kristin Pluhacek, Bart Vargas, Watie White and Mary Zicafoose are all up for best visual artist.
