At Anderson O’Brien Fine Art Old Market July 6, Signe Stuart opens a solo exhibit of her abstract, organic acrylic and sumi ink on Unryu Japanese paper and work on plexiglass. Veil Drawings and Landscapes: A Visual Journal, opens at Hot Shops July 7 featuring paintings by Dolores Brady. Brady, of Middle Eastern descent, addresses the human conditon of the women in Afghanistan through the laws of the Taliban with her expressive and spiritual figurative paintings. July 7, Hands to Harvest Community Garden is hosting “Art in the Garden: Painting on Doors” at the Garden, 1113 S. 31st St. Doors donated by Omaha Restore and Urban Village were painted by twenty local artists for show in the garden thru July 14, a percentage of the proceeds to help maintain the community garden. The opening 4-7pm, includes music by Matt Cronin, Rachel Tomlinson Dick and Rawr…Shhh and food available from Localmotive food truck.
The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery is currently accepting applications for their 2012-13 Emerging Artist Program. The Program connects newcomer area artists with experienced mentors and gives them the opportunity to learn various facets of gallery operation. Entry is open to artists with no history of professional gallery consignment within the metro, minimum age 19.
