Play Me, I’m Yours

The Omaha Creative Institute is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for the community to more fully experience their own creativity. “Come Create It Workshops” offer hands on learning with professional artists. Workshop topics include art, music, and writing activities among others. Team building workshops are available for businesses and organizations. “We’re interested in making art accessible by introducing understandable, hands on experiences,” Executive Director of Omaha Creative Institute, Susan Thomas said. “Whether it’s workshops or outreach, most of what we do is bridge local art talent with the mainstream community.” “Play Me, I’m Yours” is OCI’s next city-wide piano project scheduled for August/September, 2013. Omaha Creative Institute is partnering with other arts organizations to give artists opportunities for painting pianos. Ten artist decorated pianos will be placed in ten locations for two weeks. The pianos will be available for any member of the community to play and enjoy. OCI is looking for ten upright pianos in playable condition. They are also looking for a place where pianos can be stored and painted mid-July through August. Participate in OCI’s Public Art Piano Project by contacting Executive Director Susan Thomas at 402.917.8452 or susan@omahacreativeinstitute.org or Musician and Jazz Educator Robert Glaser at 402.551.8461.
