The Bouncing Souls w/ The Menzingers and Luther

Sokol Underground, 2234 South 13th St.

8:30 p.m., $15 in advance/$18 day-of-show, mooseriot.com

New Jersey’s The Bouncing Souls exist on the apex of several strains of modern punk, eschewing the burgeoning pop-punk of the early ’90s for a sound tied more to the likes of bands like Bad Religion, Social Distortion, the Clash and their home state’s favorite son, Bruce Springsteen. There’s a working-class sensibility that then connects the band’s skater punk-pop sound to later bands like the Gaslight Anthem and tour mates, the Menzingers. The Menzingers hail from Scranton, Penn., where they honed their anthemic punk rock until they captured the attention of Epitaph Records. The label released Menzingers’ album On the Impossible Past earlier this year.
