“Miracle Mile”, the bloodrushingly great lead single off the Cold War Kids’ upcoming fourth album, is more than just a good look for the California indie rockers. It almost serves as a promise of a return to the band’s heartpumping form that seemed to mostly go missing on their layered third album Mine Is Yours. That album still had its moments, but Kings of Leon producer Jacquire King seemed to trade the Cold War Kids’ rag-tag strengths for a more refined brand of polished alternative rock. The band is anchored by the woundedly soulful Nathan Willett. Hopefully, the band has tapped into their loose-limbed best on Dear Miss Lonelyhearts, which comes out two days before their return to the Slowdown.
