It’s not unusual to confuse fine art prints with the marketing massaged product known as “limited edition prints” which are normally commercially reproduced prints or posters that are signed. This particular show at the highly respected Gallery 72 in the middle of Vinton’s Street’s growing community features 50 prints in the former category from 30 artists who worked at the Stewart & Stewart studios over the past 30 years. Moreover, the exhibit is a virtual catalogue of all types of processes used to make fine art prints including relief, intaglio, litho and stencil. Master Printer Norm Stewart, who will speak and answer questions at the show’s opening, says that his selection for the exhibit are noted for their “painterly approach to screen printing” due to the artist’s “skillful use of vibrant, transparent inks.” Moreover each original print on display contains comprehensive print documentation while retaining each artist’s unique “painterly hand.” Artwork will be available for purchase through August 17. Featured artists include John Himmelfarb, Richard Bosman, Keiko Hara, Richard Treaster, Susan Crile and Jim Narwara.
