Liars w/ Cadence Weapon

The Waiting Room Lounge, 6212 Maple St.

9 p.m., $13 advance/$15 day-of-show, onepercentproductions.com

Liars have evolved much from the lacerating, deconstructionist take on dance-punk that first catapulted them to attention in 2001. That line-up, which featured Nebraskans Ron Albertson (Mercy Rule) and Pat Noecker (Opium Taylor), dissolved before Liars took on the first of their many sonic detours on their sophomore album They Were Wrong, So We Drowned. Despite the restless sound, the three-piece band still focuses intently on rhythmic structures, fracturing percussion into skittering, skeletal remains and sparsely applying synth and guitar parts on the bones of their own songs. Their 2012 album WIXIW burnishes their stylistic tics into an album that seems to flow together as one cohesive sound collage.
