Brothers Matthew and Ryan McGuigan have been lurking on the outskirts of the local music scene for years. Since starting Moses Prey in 2003 as a power-pop duo, it has evolved into a full-on band; drummer Mike Pollock and recently added guitarist Aaron Slagle complete the line up. Their 2006 debut, Paper Moon, was an honest effort oozing with classic rock influences such as The Beatles and The Kinks, which makes sense. The McGuigan’s eldest brother, Billy, is the producer of Yesterday and Today: An Interactive Beatles Experience, with his company, Rave On! Productions. The three boys have been touring as a national act for the past 4 years. “It’s an all request Beatles show. No fake accents, no wigs, just the music and peoples memories tied to each song,” Matt McGuigan explains. “The show is to honor our father, Bill McGuigan who was a Beatle freak.” Hopefully, they are able to find the same success with Moses Prey. Their new EP is slated for a spring release and in the meantime, you can catch them at The Waiting Room this Thursday.
