Sometimes all it takes to get your band rolling is to film some videos of what your band does while rolling down the road in the tour van. That’s been one of the secrets to Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers’ growing popularity. The band has shot a series of videos called “The Van Sessions” that feature them singing covers of songs while traveling in their band van. The group’s cover of Hall & Oates’ “I Can’t Go For That”, featuring a kazoo solo, has topped two million views. When the band cuts into its own material on stage, expect a bluesy, countrified jam band shuffle that sounds close to being the rootsier cousin to Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. It’s that part of her sound that’s landed her and her band on several bluegrass and roots festival bills.
