No Blood Orphan Record Release show

O’Leaver’s Pub, 1322 South Saddle Creek Road

9:30 p.m., FREE

Headed by singer/songwriter Mike Saklar, No Blood Orphan stayed both quiet and productive on the local scene. Shows have been infrequent for the last few years, though Saklar has technically issued eight releases in nine years as No Blood Orphan. That eighth release is Top Shelf and Lost Tricks, which will be released at this show. It will also serve as the band’s farewell show, as Saklar and the revolving collective’s other key members continue to focus on other projects. The album, which can be heard online at nobloodorphan.bandcamp.com, is a slowly-unfolding indie folk record sung with Saklar’s low-key hum of intimate introspection. The full-band tracks often add a different lilt — a jazz-and-blues inspired groove that bends Saklar’s slow, somber waltzes into interesting new textures.
