Ron Parks, Installation and Sculpture

Opening Reception: Friday, August 16 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Fred Simon Gallery, 1004 Farnam St, Omaha, NE 68102

Pick: Ron Parks says he thinks in large scale, but his sculpture has began to consider small-scale work recently as well. Parks uses fabricated industrial materials sometimes mixed with natural ones. Parks is an “untutored” artists, and his work falls somewhat into the school of Constructivism. Parks often collaborates. One of Park’s sculpture pieces features a giant yellow pencil twisted in the middle, and it sits on top of a square glass case. At the bottom of the case are pencil shreddings as if it had been sharpened. Another very contemporary piece of his features large, black vertical spirals with two orange balls sitting on top of each other. He certainly has some interesting stuff going on. Don’t miss it! Parks’ work will be viewable until September 20.
