Snake Island is unveiling their first official full-length album Evil Music, a vinyl-only release, before heading west for a three-week tour. The band recorded the album at Make Believe Studios with producer Rick Carson. Make Believe Records is co-releasing the album with the band. The release is a culmination of a collaboration between guitarists Garrett Schmelzel and Allan Schleich in 2010. After rotating through a few lineups, the band cemented their psych-rock sound somewhere between retro throwback and modern garage rock chaos. While elements of Texas psych hangs over the band, there’s a different strut thanks to how the rhythm section drives the sound. Drummer Mike Zimmerman is the unheralded key here, adapting his basement hardcore pummeling to the proper caveman stomp required for maximum impact in Snake Island.
