Washed Out

The Waiting Room Lounge, 6212 Maple St.

9 p.m., $12 in advance/$14 day-of-show, onepercentproductions.com

Blog buzz burst Washed Out onto the national indie rock scene before the band’s mastermind Ernest Greene had put out much more than a cassette and an EP. The buzz from Washed Out’s cinematically-huge take on the burgeoning chillwave genre led to a Sub Pop Records signing. The indie standard-bearer released Washed Out’s full-length debut, Within and Without, in 2011. The record takes the bedroom synthpop base of Washed Out into an 80s pop groove. The synth lines tower as Greene’s muffled vocals and billowing beats float among the sound. It’s hazy, spaced out dream pop that just hints at a bigger sound lurking below the surface.
