Celebrate Women’s History Month with two back-to-back events in print and film that will also benefit The Lydia House for Women and Children. At 6 p.m. Sally Deskins, the creator of the blog Les Femmes Folles will read highlights from her newly release on-demand book of the same name as her blog. The book includes interviews with the many creative women Deskins visited with in 2011. The reading will also feature poetry from the artists themselves, Marilyn June Coffey, Fran Higgins and Jessica Mogis. Copies will be available for purchase at a reduced price.

Then at 7 p.m. House of Loom’s Soup and Cinema series will present the documentary Who Does She Think She Is?, which features five women who “navigate some of the most problematic intersections of our time: parenting and creativity, partnering and independence, economics and art.” Produced by Tanner Boll the film explores what it means to nurture and maintain a family while keeping the creative fires burning. A post-film discussion will follow and soup and cake will be provided by Dolce Café. In-kind donations such as women’s toiletries and baby items will be accepted at the door.
