Having earned a B.A. in English from Harvard University, Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo has made it his mission to degrade the value of Ivy League college degrees with increasingly insipid Weezer singles during the past decade. Sadly successful songs like “Beverly Hills”, “We Are All on Drugs” and “I’m Your Daddy” seemed hellbent to undo the praise heaped upon Weezer’s debut and its cult-favorite follow-up Pinkerton. Yet somehow the band still endures, putting out records that mix the band’s original alternative pop angst with slices of memorable power pop. The show should be a showcase of all sides of Weezer, hopefully highlighting more of the side that produced iconic songs like “The Good Life” and “Buddy Holly”.
