Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts resident Ying Zhu has been studying building codes extensively to finish the renovation of her studio.  In the Readiness is All installation, the Chinese-born artist incorporates familiar settings and objects, emphasizing contradictions between the well-intended idea of comfort and the realistic outcome.  Zhu, who received her bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, studied stage lighting design at China Communication University in Beijing. She received an MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Zhu will give a talk on art at Bemis alongside residents Peter Owen and Tim DeVoe on Sept. 1 at 7p.m.
