Red Sky Music Festival Showcase: Mitch Gettman Band, After the Fall, Hookshot

Lava Jay’s, 3623 N. 129th St.

7:30 p.m., $6, redskyfestival.com

Help pick the local bands to open the Red Sky Music Festival. Mitch Gettman, with

bandmates Andrew Malasshock and Adam Gerber, promise a memorable night of local

music comparable to Jeff Buckley and Radiohead. After the Fall was voted the best

rock band on college campuses in 2008 by mtvU, with a sound that is energetic and

aggressive, yet dynamic and deep. It’s a large sound with lyrics that speak volumes of

love and life following in the footsteps of bands like Madina Lake, Anberlin, The Used

and Story of the Year. Closing the evening, Hookshot is an original rock band featuring

mostly alternative/acoustic rock music from Omaha natives who bring a fresh lyrical

innocence.–Aponick, Eustice, Schulte
