Very few Celtic bands exist anymore, at least not in the mainstream. Gaelic Storm, however, isn’t your average “Irish” band. They earned instant recognition via a little movie called Titanic in 1995 when they appeared as the in-house (or on-board) band. Comprised of Ryan Murphy, Steve Twigger, Ryan Lacey, Pete Purvis and Jessie Burns, Gaelic Storm is on the road again in support of their seventh studio album, Cabbage. Touring 200 days a year, they know the rigors of the road, but it sets them apart from other bands that don’t get such exposure. After three albums on Virgin Records/EMI, they started Lost Again Records; and they have flourished. Combining the traditional sound of Ireland with the more modern sounds of pop, rock and world music, their style is all their own. Gaelic Storm blows into Omaha for a wee good time this Thursday (Kyle Eustice).
