University of Nebraska-Omaha professor of art Christina Renfer Vogel shows Omahans the breadth of her work at the Birdhouse Collectible.  Exhibiting “snapshots” including many of her striking yet minimalistic recently completed small painting portraits and works on paper of male and female subjects, as well as objects with innate meaning to the artist.  Vogel, new to the UNO department last year, hails from Pennsylvania with an impressive resume including a Master of Fine Arts from the Massachusetts College of Art.  This year alone she will have exhibited in four national shows including Man as Object:  Reversing the Gaze , a Women’s Caucus of Art national exhibition in November at the SOMArts Cultural Center in San Francisco, a show that examines the visibility of men and masculinity from female/feminist/transgender perspectives.  -Sally Deskins
