The Marriage Contract

The Jewel Box Theater at the Scottish Rite Center, 202 S. 20th St.

Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m., Sunday, 2 p.m., $10-$79

Gioachino Rossini, best known for “The William Tell Overture” and “The Barber of Seville,” composed the 90-minute one act. The opera will be sung in English. Opera Omaha’s Executive Director Roger Weitz said the opera updated the short comic piece and the action is now set in the late 1950s/early 1960s.

He said a Venetian-inspired party with food and drinks would precede each performance. These include cocktails and canapés, the lover’s feast and a sweetheart brunch.

“The Jewel Box Theatre is a charming intimate venue that will facilitate a stronger connection between the audience and our charismatic cast and is great for those who might be new to opera,” Weitz said.
