Norwegian native and Athens, Georgia transplant, artist Nina Barnes presents 15 mixed media pieces seeking to “capture an inner mental landscape, colorful but a little bit askew, frozen and distant, but with a troubled longing for belonging.”  Barnes, known for her album art, music videos, tour visuals and stage antics for the band Montreal, created the Tiled Series as a reaction to years of working towards realizing other people’s visions.  Her watercolor and hand drawn figures are collaged with layers of texture, then printed, and re-altered again with watercolor and ink to produce the dreamy nomadic images.  Barnes, also a performance and comedy artist, will debut her musical collaboration, Harouki Zombi, with Omaha native and singer-songwriter Orenda Fink, at the House of Loom, 1012 S. 10th Street, following the reception.
