Artist Heather Johanson is exhibiting drawings, etchings and paintings based on “intervention and observation.” The Omaha-based artist has been taking out lawn and planting habitat in her Dundee-home yard since she moved there in 2008. “I am interested in seduction – many plants that attract night flying insects use scent to attract pollinators. I use a lot of these plants in my garden. Occasionally, I will set out a black light to attract insects at night and photograph them…I am interested in night flying insects because they are mysterious, less known and less valued,” Johanson said. “Night Flying Insects,” a painting on paper, represents night flying insects she’s observed in the past three years.
