An investigator testified Wednesday that a former school resource officer at Westview High School took more than 5,000 covert images of female students and used artificial intelligence to generate nude photos of them.
Nolan Dudik, who was employed with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and had been assigned at Westview High School for about six months in 2025, is facing federal charges of receipt and possession of child sexual abuse materials. A judge ordered Dudik to remain in pretrial detention on Wednesday.
At a detention hearing, Nebraska State Patrol investigator Jason Halouska said Dudik had more than 13,000 files containing child sexual abuse materials in an encrypted app on his phone. He also took thousands of photos of female students at Westview, Halouska said, and used the school’s surveillance camera system to take photos of one particular student.
Halouska said the photos were taken in “all different positions in the high school setting, whether it be in classrooms, in the hallways of the high schools.”
“Basically, almost all were from behind or having the camera positioned underneath a desk in the school, pointing at the buttocks of females in a high school setting,” he said.
Dudik also used AI to generate nude photos and videos of adults and minors he knew – including students at Westview and high schoolers that participated in the Sheriff’s Office’s career exploration program, Halouska said. Halouska said Dudik produced AI pornography of more than 200 people, about 70 of whom have been identified.
In addition to the AI-generated child sexual abuse materials, Halouska said, Dudik also possessed known images and videos of children being sexually abused. He possessed approximately 90 files depicting the abuse of toddlers and infants, Halouska said.
Ryan Crnkovich, Dudik’s attorney, argued that he should be released as the case progresses. Dudik has known he was under investigation since December, Crnkovich said, and has cooperated with investigators and not attempted to flee.
But prosecutors said the seriousness of the allegations combined with a recent suicide attempt and concerns about his mental health make him a serious risk to others and to himself.
“This case goes beyond the typical child pornography recipient and possession case seen in this district,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Tessie Smith said. “He was a sworn law enforcement officer. He was a school resource officer who was trusted to protect the children at that school.”
Dudik was charged via criminal complaint, which is typically a precursor to a formal indictment. U.S. Magistrate Judge Jacqueline DeLuca said she anticipates an indictment “pretty soon.”
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office conducted an internal investigation earlier this year and terminated Dudik’s employment in May. He later voluntarily relinquished his law enforcement certification.
