Oct. 4 Jimmy Eat World w/ We Were Promised Jetpacks Sokol Auditorium, 2234 S. 13th St. 8 p.m., $25, onepercentproductions.com Whether you’ve only heard “The Middle,” or you’ve been with them since 1996’s Static Prevails, there’s no denying the success of Jimmy Eat World. A major-label, big-budget band that has somehow kept its focus and stayed glued to its indie roots is a rare and beautiful thing. Formed in the mid-’90s, Jim Adkins and company carried the torch that Sunny Day Real Estate lit, effectively paving the way for a slew of pop-punk wannabes. However, Jimmy Eat World have managed to stay fresh and relevant, making music that is emotional without being emo, lyrics as honest as they are catchy. Be sure to check out their new album Invented, due Sept. 28.
